[Gpdd] [behavior] - pig with an attitude...

Scott & Rebecca. We adopted a rescue pig who had been almost starved to
death. In fact, when she was picked up by rescue she was in the cage with
her two sisters, and one of them was dead already. She has been with us for
4 & 1/2 years now, and she still is marked by that experience. Her cage
mate is very gentle and tolerates Cleo's pushy nature. The minute food is
placed in the cage Cleo is all over it, and will push her sister away until
she has run around it, sniffed and sized it up and has eaten some of it. At
first we worried about this, but the girls do just fine together, as our
other gal is laid back and just waits her "turn". Both are well fed and
loved: cavy cusine is available at all times, a full hay rack, fresh
vegetable bowl every morning, and romaine & greens (including grass) daily.
Yet, our poor Cleo still jumps at the food as if it will disappear if she
turns her back. It can be that when your little one was sick she underwent
a marking of sorts also, and this has changed her. In our house we just
laugh at Cleo as she acts like she is starving - standing in a pile of food!
