Hi Jodi,
Your Gussie sounds like a very special piggie,
and lucky too to have a good Slave like yourself.
My Brownie Bear is also a solo piggie and free
range too, so she has the run of our apartment.
I don't know if a piggie is better off solo and free
range, I think it depends on the piggie. Like, I
think my Brownie Bear would be better off with
a piggie friend. What I mean is--this is my 3rd
solo piggie and the other two really bonded with
me. But, I've had Brownie for almost 2 years and
she is just starting to get Sweet with me. Like,
in the last 2 or 3 months, she started purring when
I kiss the top of her head. I'm just like,
"Aaaaaaaaaah..."

And now, she doesn't fight me if I put her on my
lap--she just stretches out and takes a nap. But,
it took her so incredibly long to warm up to me and
now, I am starting to see some more Cute & Funny
personality traits from her. For instance, if my Hubby
and I are watching t.v. in the living room, she'll
come
over and start nibbling on our feet to get attention.
She didn't used to do that, until the last couple of
months. She's such a Sweetie Pie!

Oh, and I'm like you. I HATE to leave my Piggie
alone when we go away. We only do overnight
trips now, because I refuse to be away from my
Baby. But, the longest we were away was a wheek
and we let her stay in our apartment free range (it's
Piggie-Proofed) and we had a couple of friends come
and feed her and play with her everyday. But, even
with that, Brownie Bear was upset at me and I was
in the Dog-House, so-to-speak for at least an hour
after we returned from our trip. Many slaves would
not agree with leaving a free range piggie for too
long. But, Brownie Bear is a good girl and she doesn't
chew up stuff, for the most part. I would never have
trusted my previous Boy Piggies like that, cuz they
were Wild 'n Crazy Boys!

Well, I gotta run.
      Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeps,
                    Leah...Slave to Brownie Bear :-)

Hello,
I was just wondering what other people do with
their piggie while they go on vacation. We have had
Gussie for about 1 year. We used to travel but now we
don't go unless we can bring Gussie. I have major
guilt if I even think of leaving him. He has the run
of our apartment. I came home from work yesterday
sick and he started screaming he was so excited to see
me. So days I feel bad going to work.

Gussie lives byhimself. He is a 1 1/2 year old
male. He is very alpha it is his way with both of his
parents. He always gets what he wants. We tried to
get a another guinea pig over 6 mths ago. He was
terrible and tried to fight with the baby male that we
got. We ended up taking the other guinea pig back.
It was very heatbreaking. I have read that guinea pig
get lonley. I don't want an unhappy pig. I also
won't get them in cages my pig loves his freedom. Is
he better of roaming free and solo?
Thanks,
Jodi
