Hi Lauren,
You can get a childs plastic wading pool for less than $10 and
fill it with lots of fun stuff! I use mine as a playpen...everyone gets
their turn! Of course, my cats like to jump in it too and scatter
shavings all about! If you want it to be their permanent home, you can
encircle it with an x-pen or even some hardware cloth (aka rabbit wire).
My GP's all love their hanging toys. I have purchased several hard
plastic bird toys (some of them are fruit flavored!) and they grab the
lowest link and shake it all around! They also like to poke at
themselves in the little birdie mirrors with the small bell on the
bottom. They do get bored, so I clean and rotate toys frequently. (I
run them through the dishwasher!) Safely stacked bricks are great...it
will reduce the frequency of nail clipping, and they are cool to stretch
out on during a hot spell. Jingling cat toys are fun too.
The bird toys tend to be expensive...usually $6.99 for 5-6
plastic links! As an alternative, I found the same size/plastic/colors
of links in a package of 36 for $4.99 at Babies-R-Us! What a huge
savings! I have also found some unused/unwanted childrens toys that
they like to toss around. Be certain that there are no unsafe pieces
(ie: little metal screws). A free way to provide entertainment! Have
fun!

PS...I placed my 11th rescued guinea pig today...11 sweet babies who
would have otherwise been euthanized (or worse!) I will miss Phoebe
greatly, but she has an amazing new family and GP friends she is getting
to know. Plus, she is about 5 miles down the road, so I have
visitation!!! The sadness I feel for missing her is greatly
overshadowed by the happiness I have for finding her a new forever home!

Michelle
