Hi Amy,
My piggie just got spayed last wheeek and the
cost was $100 for the spay itself. The surgery
was done in Northern Virginia and I'm pretty
sure the cost of living in California is higher.
The anestesia was $26, the Baytril injection
was $22. The Baytril prescription (that I brought
home) was $16, the Torbugesic injection (for pain)
was $16, the Metacam (pain medication) was $18
and I bought 2 Oxbow Critical Care pouches for
$20. So for, we have a total of $218.

My Bear also had bladder stones, so her bladder
stone surgery was another $100, and the stone
analysis was $60. That totals up to $378.

Also, I had a previous balance of $128.90 from
my initial appointment with her. I don't have
a breakdown of the costs (which I need to get)
but on that day, I was charged for the Exam,
the X-rays, and also a Urinalysis.

My Total Bill was $506.90.

Brownie Bear is one $Expensive$ Pig, that's for
sure! :-)

         Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeps,
          Leah...Slave to Brownie Bear :-)

Hi all:

It's been almost a decade (and not in California)
since I've had to have a boar neutered, and I'm
wondering about costs. I have an excellent exotics
vet whom I trust and who has taken wonderful care
of my herd over the years. The receptionist quoted me
what seems to me to be an astronomical sum for a
neutering. She was new, so wasn't sure she was right,
and will be checking with the vet to tell me on
Monday. But in the meantime I was wondering what some
of you have paid recently. I was expecting something
around $100, but she quoted me (because of anesthesia,
etc.) $300! Is this standard?

Your input is much appreciated.

Amy
