Hi Monica,
I have a piggie pouch now (3 actually) and wish I'd got them early on.
I found them fair cheap on ebay tho stores have them too. Piggies (mine
anyway) are very willing to climb into their pouches to be lifted tho we don't
do that much any more. Your run-about little girl reminds me of my little
Wilson when he was tiny. He was a fearful 3 week old pup when I got him. Fear seems
to make them skittzy. Pig pouches allwo them to snuggle in and peek out. A
towel might work too.
Don't swoop down on the piggies from overhead -- they'll think you're
a hawk or some other predator. And be patient. Little Wilson used to wildly
thrash arms and legs everywhere when picked up -- teeth snapping at anything
that he might get a grip on. Poor baby was just very frightened.
Like you, I felt pretty bad about it.
If you have a way to contain them on the floor, possibly with you
sitting in the midst of them, floor time might be nice. I usually serve a little
veggie banquet on a plate. (Party time!)
Realize that they aren't afraid of you -- they're just young and
afraid, period.
Wilson has actually become snuggly, and he was my "biter." (nipper
:) He was the runt of the litter, more high strung and more fearful -- and
for whatever reason, my first choice! :)
Hang in -- things will work out fine.
All best,
Alge
