Lena,
Most newspapers and unbleached paper bags are okay for
piggies. Newspapers now use soy-based inks. I use
newspaper in my cages (got the idea from someone on
the GPDD) and I have never had a problem, except my
white pigs sometime get a little newsprint on their
butts :-) Just be sure to avoid the colored pages and
the comics, as these can be toxic (has something to do
with the chemical components in the colored inks).
Hope this helps...

Now I have a question of my own, regarding pigs and
cold weather. I have been living in Hawaii for the
past four years, and cold weather was never an issue.
Now that I am living in Maryland, and winter is fast
approaching, how should I deal with the temperature
inside my home to best make my piggies comfortable?
Will the dry heat inside irritate their sensitive
skin? And what about bathing? My liitle Diva,
Serendipity, has very long hair and needs to be bathed
often. I don't want to cut off all her hair, so she
will still need to be bathed this winter--and she
absolutely refuses to let me use a hairdryer on her!
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, and welcome to any and all who are
new to the GPDD.
