Dear Fellow Piggie Slaves,This past Friday I took my 5 year old Peruvian girl "Willow" to our wonderful vet. (We received her name through the GPDD)Willow was bleeding from her private area, drinking excessive amounts of water and appeared to show slight signs of weight loss.In the past, the Dr. treated the bleeding as a UTI... I was not sure if this was another episode or perhaps she had developed Diabetes as the water drinking & weight loss were very new symptoms. Anyway, upon examination, the Dr. discovered a large lump in her abdomen area, I could not feel it even when the Dr. had me try. Radiographs were taken and a large mass could clearly be seen, (if you make a circle with your index finger & thumb, this is the size of the mass). The mass has pushed her organs over to one side. Without the biopsy we can't tell what the mass is, the area looks translucent so I know it's not a cyst because a cyst would appear dark so it is either a benign tumor or cancer. The vet feels that at Willow's age, it would be risky to do surgery. 1) They could open her up & find that there is nothing that can be done and then she would have the pain of post op & the stress of recovery thus making her final time uncomfortable. 2) They could remove the mass but because of her age, might not pull through such an ordeal. 3) She could possibly die during the surgery.Of course I want what's best for my little girl but I can't just sit and wait for her to die! She is acting back to normal at present. Drinking, eating and playing. She gets her daily dose of Oxbow Vitamin C, lots of Oxbow Timothy Hay, Oxbow Cavy Cuisine pellets and fresh veggies. My question is, does anybody treat their piggies holistically? Is there anything I can do to help her? Has anybody else gone through this? Any advice would greatly be appreciated, I love her so much and can't bear the thought of her going through this! Thank you for reading this, I apologize for the lengthy letter.God BlessWarmly,Wendy & Willow
