Concerning cleaning water bottles - this suggestion was on the GPDD and it
works well.  Put some uncooked rice - whole grain not instant - in the water
bottle with some mouthwash.  Shake vigorously.  The rice works like little
brushes to scrub off the inside walls of the bottle.  Dispose of the rice
and mouthwash and rinse well with clean water before filling.
