[Gpdd] Health--Honey's ear infection

I am so glad to read that Honey is better ! I wanted to add one thing from
my experience.  You reminded us all that untreated ear infections can
progress to middle ear infections (in older pigs, also) and even brain
damage and death. Shortly after I adopted PJ she developed a horrible odor
from her ears but no discharge or other symptoms. I took her to the vet and
got ear drops which seemed to clear the problem up. But about 6 weeks later
she suddenly started having a head tilt and rapidly progressed to seizures.
Apparently she had gotten another ear infection which spread to the middle
ear and central nervous system (like meningitis). This also responded to
antibiotics but much slower and she had to stay on oral antibiotics for 6
weeks. It just reminded me of how quickly a minor infection in our little
sweeties can progress to a potentially fatal illness.
