Bec--Sounds like your little Vinny had some semen
around the outside of his penis. Guinea pig semen is
very sticky when it dries, as it forms a plug inside
the sow so no other boar can sire any babies (sounds
gross, I know, but other animals do this as
well...it's a survival mechanism). You did the right
thing in soaking it and taking it off; next time, a
bit of warm water on a cotton swab will do just as
well as a saltwater soak. This has happened to my pig,
Gizmo on more than one occasion, and he has been none
the worse for wear for it, i.e. no urinary tract
infections. If he could talk, I'd ask him how it got
there in the first place :-) Hope this helps.

Tina--Consider yourself lucky...you have a "kissy
face" pig! My little Serendipity does this to me all
the time. I'm sure it's probably just her licking the
salt off my skin, but I like to pretend that she loves
her mama so much that she feels compelled to give me
kisses! It's a good sign that she likes to nuzzle your
face like that. As for licking your fingers, I have a
couple of pigs that do that....usually after feeding
time, for obvious reasons, and I have one pig that
does it while I'm scratching his ears---sort of a
mutual grooming thing.
