For Snowdreamer117 at aol.com:

Our piggies have rejected many veggies and fruits, but the two things they have
always loved are carrots and red leaf lettuce, LOL! I asked our exotic vet
about this, and although there is fairly high calcium in the carrots, since the
rest of his diet was good: Timothy Hay and Oxbow pellets with Vit. C (based on
timothy hay, *NO* alfalfa, which has high calcium I believe, and is very bad
for piggies). The vet *did* issue a warning about parsley, however, in that it
is LOADED with calcium and should only be a rare treat, not given daily, but
only weekly or rarely. :=0 The vet said that the best time to introduce lots of
veggies and fruits (although he cautioned light on fruits because of the sugar
and extra calories that piggies don't need) was when piggies were very, very
young, and to be PERSISTENT for a week or so, before giving up offering a
certain veggie or fruit. It takes piggies awhile to make up their minds! :D
Once they get older (over a year) piggies can get set in their ways about what
they like and don't like (and he was sure right about that! LOL!).

Just adding my two cents worth here. Hello to all, and huge hugs to those who
have piggie friends going over the Rainbow Bridge. Prayers and healing energy
to all sick piggies and slaves, too! :)

Skye
