A couple of things...Get guinea pig food!! Rabbit food is not
appropriate for piggies. It can even have antibiotics in it that can
kill piggies. Also, no seed mixes. They are too fattening and can cause
piggies to choke. Your piggie won't drink the water because it tastes
bad from the powder. Most of those powders make the water taste
terrible. Also, they are relatively worthless as they are inactivated by
the chlorine in the water. You also have no idea how much vitamin c your
piggie is getting. Is the water bottle low enough? Make sure it is not
one with a spring inside the tube. That may be too hard for your baby to
use. Right now, until your piggie is 6 months old, you should give her
alfalfa hay at all times, every day. Fresh vegetables are essential
every day to give her enough vitamin c, instead of the powder in the
water. After six months of age your piggie should be switched to timothy
or another grass hay and a timothy based guinea pig pellet. Please take
a look at the link below. It is an excellent site that gives a lot of
care info. It is essential to care for your piggie properly.
Unfortunately, pet shop employees often do not know what they are
talking about. Good luck.
