There are a few general signs to watch out for in guinea pigs that may indicate a health problem. Of course, there are a variety of problems (most not extremely common) gpigs may encounter, but because gpigs are natural prey animals, oftentimes once a condition has progressed enough for you to notice a symptom, the piggie may already be very sick and need a vet. That's why finding a good vet who has a lot of experience with guinea pigs, before yours gets sick, is very important. Anyway, general things to look out for is discharge from the eyes or nose, a change eating/drinking/pooping/activity level, or any unusual behavior like limping, crying when peeing, excessive scratching, excessive sneezing, and/or strange-sounding or labored breathing.
Here is a list of GP sites that you could look through to find about common gpig issues:

http://www.aracnet.com/~seagull/Guineas/
http://www.cavymadness.com/

Ok I hope this will give you some good info!
