[Gpdd] [BEHAVIOR] <What is popcorning?>

I have a young Guinea Pig (5 weeks), and I have some questions about his
behavior.  When I let him out of his cage and let him run on the carpet, in
addition to squeaking, he starts jumping uncontrollably.  I've read about
popcorning, but he looks like he has no control over himself.  He even hit
his head yesterday on leg of a table while jumping.  He doesn't do this in
his cage, even though he has plenty (6 1/2 sf all to himself) of room.  So
does this sound like popcorning, or is something strange going on?
