First of all, thanks to everyone for their
input on my question involving neutering
and its effects on impaction. I really
would never neuter a guinea pig, as I don't
think it would be safe because there
doesn't seem to be a guinea pig "specialist"
in my area, but I wanted to see how true
that piece of information was.

I am finally getting my guinea pig this
weekend, and I've been trying to get his
place all set up ahead of time, but I've
come across a bit of a predicament. I
don't necessarily have a single spot his
cage could go--I have more things than I
have place for, and I don't want to put
the cage on the floor because it gets
very drafty in my room. (The guinea pig
has to stay in my room; not only does my
mother forbid his cage from being located
anywhere else, I really don't feel
comfortable leaving him where my younger
brother could be near him while I'm not
home. He's not young, but he can be
rather destructive, and I don't want
anything to happen to Napoleon.) I never
had this problem when I had Beethoven,
because that was before I acquired books
and a collection, so although Beethoven's
cage was kept on the bookshelf, that area
is now occupied because I have nowhere
else to place these things.

Do you think moving the guinea pig's cage
around every so often whenever there is
an open space to place it would cause him
undue stress?

P.T.O. - Lauren: No, I'm not named after
the Land Before Time character--it's more
of a nickname. I really don't know why,
perhaps I am duck-like in some way?  n_n;;
