[Gpdd] BEHAVIOR: My Piggies Hate Each Other

Back in September, I got my first piggie and named her "Isabel" since she
came to us along with the hurricane in Va. She's a wonderful pig with a great
personality and extremely lovable. My husband and I decided that Isabel was
spending too much time alone while we were at work, so we adopted "Lily" over
Easter weekend. Lily was thrown out of her former home because she was pregnant.
After Lily gave birth in mid-March and after her four piglets were weaned,
Lily came home to us. The first meeting with Isabel ended in disaster, since
Lily bit poor Izzy on the nose. We have tried sitting on opposite ends of the
sofa with my husband holding one piggie and I the other while waiting for the
piggies to decide that they would like to see each other. Inevitably, Lily
comes over to pick a fight with Izzy and chatters her teeth aggressively. The
same thing happens when we put their cages next to each other. Lily's teeth
chattering is VERY loud and Isabel runs into her pigloo. (Lily even chatters at
me if I hold Isabel before her!) Needless to say, sharing a cage is out of
the question at this point. We wanted a friend for Isabel, not something to
cause her stress. Meanwhile, Lily is as sweet as can be when she is away from
Izzy (she's snuggled with me as I type). Any suggestions as to how to introduce
the two sows would be much appreciated.

A special hello to the Okie Piggies from this OU alum!

Thanks much,
 Janet
