Hi Chris,
I'm sorry about the news regarding Cleo's tumors. She has so far lived a long life, and now gets to live out the rest of her retirement with you and Spookie giving her some extra TLC. Don't feel afraid for her - animals are not afraid of death, they know that they will find relief there. Let her be happy during her final sweet time with you and understand that she knows you love her. Just like for you, it will be hard for Spookie at first to adjust to the eventual physical absence of her friend. But when that time comes the two of you together can give each other support and comfort, and remind each other that Cleo will not be gone but in fact is very much with you and is very happy. Do not be afraid for Cleo. In her final days show her your appreciation and love. Do not be afraid of losing her because she will never really go away.
