Aspen bedding can cause blockage, but only if eaten in large amounts. My
piggies frequently eat a piece or two of their litter when I change the
cage. They have never had any problems. I would be more worried about
fleece and towels. They can ingest the fibers and those are more likely
to cause a blockage or digestive problems. I know my Mary will pull at
towels and eat them if she can get to them. I would be more worried
about eating fleece or towel fibers than a piece of aspen bedding here
or there. I would only worry about the aspen bedding if they are eating
large quantities of it. Lots of hay available in the cage should help to
minimize the amount of bedding eaten.
