Our little Zoree has gone to the Rainbow Bridge after a long illness. She
was nearing six years old but still very pretty with very thick short white
hair, big flappy pink ears, large black eyes, a pink nose and a golden brown spot
on her rump. She looked like a little girl who sat in a puddle.

We adopted Beatrice and her sister Zoree in the fall almost six years ago
from the Dumb Friends League. They were former classroom pets, still very young,
put up for adoption with a little sign saying they would like to be kept
together. We had just lost three piggies within weeks of each other and were
thrilled to get Bea and Zor. As soon as we got them home, they started fighting.
Zoree always had a little notch in her ear that looked suspiciously like a
Bea bite. Beatrice denies doing it. Eventually they settled down and enjoyed
rushing around their hutch, fussing with the blankies, looking for treats and
enjoying little naps. Zoree used to barber Beatrice, who tolerated it to a
point.

Zoree was very lively in her youth and would climb all over anyone who tried
to hold her. She liked to play "catch-catch" but would not tolerate too much
teasing. She had an air of wounded dignity when she marched away from the
offending party. My husband always called her "the deliberate pig" at such
times. She was one of the few piggies we had who would use her paws to move and
hold things. If she was grumpy at me, she would lower her head and paw the
shavings like a tiny bull. She rarely purred unless we happened to bring just
exactly the right kind of treat.

This has been a sad year, with the loss of Orrie, Sydney and now Zoree. I
have the lovely Beatrice and the remarkable Big Red and Shaggy the cat. Please
excuse the long post. Zoree was not a cuddly piggie, but her personality was
so enchanting and it is very sad to lose her. Good-bye, Zoree girl. We will
miss you so much. --Kathy S
