Jennifer and Adam, we will be keeping Shy Guy in our prayers.  We tried to 
think of something else you could do for him, but you're already doing 
everything we can think of.  How sad that your long-term vet didn't take 
Shy Guy's symptoms seriously.  Glad the new vet you found is much better.
