	Hello,

I have some more resources for those wishing to write letters to the
authorities about the Parachute Piggie, aka Noel.

First, here is what I found on the Indiana State Law regarding animal cruelty:

State: Indiana
Statute Number Of cruelty Law: IC 35-46-3-12
Felony: YES
Classification of crime/ Maximum level of penalty:Class D felony on the
first conviction or torture or mutilation.
Maximum Fine: $10 000
Maximum Jail time: 3 years
Psychological Counseling: -
Year enacted into a felony: Amended to make it a felony on the first in 2002.
Other significant circumstances or penalties under the felony statute: -

I'm not sure this is the most current info, but it's a place to start.

Then, check this page for the article on this case as well as the main
page for hundreds of other horrific cases (not for the easily shocked,
depressed, or weak of stomach):

And lastly, e-mail addresses for those involved in the case:

Jason Eller - Animal Control Officer responsible for investigating

We really need the contact info for the criminal prosecutor of the case -
*if* things go that far. But perhaps we can help insure that they do by
***very calmly and politely*** writing to those involved and making sure
they know that we are interested in the outcome of the investigation, and
that we would like to request that the case be treated seriously. Between
this case and the two hamster cases (which may or may not be real), I am
beginning to see an alarming trend of animal abuse popping up on college
campuses. Or perhaps it has always been there and we are simply seeing more
of it in the news, which is both good and bad. Good, for education and
awareness purposes, and bad, because some idiot out there will be inspired
to do something equally stupid.

I have had no response from the Dean of IUB as yet, only a notification
that my e-mail has been read. Please, everyone, if you do get more info on
the case, share it with us.

Thanks!
Pam
