hey all,

this is to answer theresa and anne's questions abt guinea pig food.

Theresa asked abt guinea pig pellets tt contain alfafa.
Feed in moderation. It's okay to feed guinea pigs over 6 months alfafa based
pellets. just don't overfeed them. it's too much alfafa that will cause
bladder stones. i do admit it's tough to find a timothy hay based guinea pig
pellet. so until you find one brand, feed in moderation. and even if you get
a timothy hay based pellet, feed in moderation as well.

Regarding Anne's question abt nuts in guinea pig mixture. from what i've
read, just make sure your guinea pig mixture that has fruits and nuts
doesn't have unshelled nuts (the shell can choke the guinea pig, guinea pigs
can't de-shell the nuts unlike hamsters). you can try mixing the fruit and
nut food with the pellets and thus slowly wheen them off the fruit and nut
food. pellets are still the best feed eventually.

cheers,
joylania
