Lisa,

Here's a suggestion - get out of the business before you get started. I hope
you are still in the research phase of your business. There is no money in
breeding. Breeders get, at most, $3 per pig when selling to retailers. Most
breeders don't factor in their time when calculating their profit. You would
be better off supplying a service, such as guinea pig-related items or working
as a vet assistant. You could take your expertise with guinea pigs and build
large, safe cages and sell them to local pet shops. Besides, how can you ask
for advice when there are so many stories on this board of abused, unwanted
guinea pigs? We don't need more breeders, we need homes for the pigs that are
already born.
