I think I have seen what you are describing before. I have a special
needs piggie named Patches. I adopted her. She has a neurological
problem. She has tremors and doesn't use her back legs very well. She
also has very occasional seizures. I saw her do something like what you
were describing one day. I thought it was some type of seizure. There
are many different types of seizures, not only the big, all out, full
body spasms. It went away quickly and she ate right away after it. I
wasn't overly concerned due to her known issues. I kept a close watch on
her. I had her out a few days after that and gave her a treat. It was
sort of like a giant pellet. She started to eat it and did the same dry
heaving, hiccupping thing again. Then she spit out the half dissolved
pellet. I believe that she was choking on it. Because they can't vomit,
they must do something to expel things if possible. It could be that
your piggie simply swallowed something wrong and was trying to get it
out of their throat. If it continues, I would take your piggies to the
vet to have them checked out. Also, think about if you have made any
changes in their diet that maybe they might be having difficulties with.
Good luck.
