[Gpdd] HEALTH - Neutering

When Phineas (and later Neville) was neutered, the vet said 2 weeks before
reuniting them with the girls. I wanted to be very, very sure that there
were no unwanted pregnancies so I waited an extra week.

While the boys were recovering, I kept their cage as close to the rest of
the family as possible, so they could still hear, see and smell them. When
the time came, I reunited them in the play area and watched carefully. All
was well for several hours so they all went home together and lived happily
ever after.

During their recuperation, I checked the surgical site daily, more often at
first, (which they did not appreciate in the least) to look for any
swelling, redness, or heat, and also to see that the stitches had been left
alone. Thankfully, they never had any problems, otherwise it would have
been off to the vet in a hurry.

Both of the boys still get along famously with the girls but are now each
others mortal enemies. Wishful thinking, but I was hoping for one big happy
family. So Phineas lives in the "palace" with Delilah and the girls, and
Neville lives next door in the "luxury suite". The boys take turns being
out in the play area with the girls, but never together or Phineas tries to
knock the stuffing out of poor little Neville who squeals and runs for his
life.

Love from all of us,
Louise and her masters, Phineas, Delilah, Hillary, Pandora, Mostly,
Neville, and Mr. Norman, the rat
