Hello to Kelly, Squeak, and Busta.
What a tragedy to lose your Piglet and Ginny in such a brutal way. I hope Squeak is doing OK. Tell him that he'll see them again some day when he leaves his physical body. He'll probably understand what you're saying, and that hopefully will make him feel a little better. You mentioned that you would like to breed your GPs. Make sure the female is no older than 8 months the first time you breed her, as her pelvic bones will begin to fuse at about a year old if she hasn't ever had any litters. If a female tries to give birth and her pelvic bones can't stretch to let the baby out, she as well as her unborn litter will likely die. I have read also that the age to stop breeding a female is about two years (if she has had litters before 8 mos.), as an older GP is more likely to have complications during pregnancy. If you plan on breeding your piggilies, you should also plan on either neutering your males, spaying your female, or housing them seperately when the female becomes too old to
bear litters. Also, don't forget that while baby GPs are cute, there are always GPs at animal shelters who could use new homes, too. Good luck, and keep us updated!
