Hi...I have been reading the GGPD for a couple of months now...we are the proud mommie and daddie to 29 little darlings....so when i read about your holiday problems i decided to write in. I thought of one way that may help, but i sew and not knowing if you do or not, this may or may not work...what if you made a slip cover for the piggies houses. You know, one that would fit over their cage snugly so that the girls could not pull it off without attracting attention to themselves. You may even want to put elastic at the bottom so that if would really fit! If it was made from cotton, like sheet weight, the piggies would get light in, air in, and girls out. They may even stay calmer if they are not exposed to all the activity that it sounds like is going to happen in your home.

And now i am probably going to stick my foot in it...but i firmly believe in the word NO! especially in your home with living creatures ( I once had a niece swing our cat around the room by its tail, while her mother laughed, the cat had spinal problems for the rest of her life). Introduce the niece to the piggies, and then explain that they can be hurt easily, frightened easily and that they now need to rest...end of story! If she persists...take her in another room and explain how the rules work in your home. Sorry if I sound harsh, but with a house full ourselves over the holidays, I found that directness works best. Also talk to your daughter about the behavior that is expected from her while her cousin is there, maybe she could have piggie info books to look at with her cousin, or pictures of your piggies that you could take between now and thanksgiving. Hopefully all this will help to make your holidays more happy and less stressful!

Let me know if and how the slip cover thing works!
