I, too, wonder about this. Although some pet stores are horrifying, some
aren't bad. I got Pepper at Hobbyland, and although the store smells
horrible, it seems like he takes good care of his little piggies. My
neighbor had two, and they both lived long lives (I think one was 8 and
the other one was 9). Anyway, SOME pet stores aren't all that bad.
 
P.S. GUESS WHAT! My friend went on vacation today and she's letting me
babysit her piggie! He is 1 as of June 3rd. Pepper and Melvin (my
friend's piggie) get along great during floor time. Otherwise they just
hear each other squeaking in my bedroom. 8D I'm happy!
