Britt,
I have a boar who has, um...annointed...me (and my
husband) on a few occasions. He seems to get turned on
pretty easily, and he purrs and rumblestruts if you
rub him on his sides. One day my husband rubbed and
scratched him a little too much, and ended up with a
handful of something other than guinea pig hair! I
told him Gizmo was getting turned on, but he wouldn't
listen. We still show Gizmo a lot of attention, but
we're careful to keep it localized to the head and ear
area.
I have females also, not in the same cage as Gizmo,
but in the same part of the house, and I think that
kind of exacerbates his little problem because he can
smell them.

This is off the topic, but I had to take my little
Maxine in for surgery yesterday. She had a lump a
little smaller than the size of a thumb print on her
belly. It was removed successfully, and the vet sent
the mass to a lab to have the pathology done on it.
Maxine is doing fine; she immediately started eating
when I brought her home and she seems like her normal
self today. The mass was just under the skin and not
attached to anything else, so the vet was able to
laser it out and she doesn't even need any pain meds.
Her little belly just looks funny, with a shaved patch
and some sutures. If anyone lives in the Maryland
area, I highly recommend this vet--Dr. Rhody of
Lakeside Veterinary Center. He is, however, allergic
to guinea pigs, so he has to suit up like Darth Vader
before he can examine my pigs. He probably hates to
see me coming :>)

Regards,
Stacy and the Squee Sqad
Gizmo (the naughty boy), Max, Serendipity, Maxine,
Teddy, Oscar, Williepig and Pinkerton
