Your dilemma is one that unfortunately a lot of caring animal lovers face at some point. You don't know whether to support a store that does not take care of its animals in order to save a guinea pig, or to refuse to let cruel practices be supported with your money. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. You will have to do what you feel is right. 
Whether or not you go back to buy the pig, I suggest you call your local animal protection institute, if there is one in the Cheyenne area, and file a complaint. Tell them about the condition of the guinea pig you saw and also the fact that they were housed with rabbits; they should be housed seperately, something that most good pet stores do. Whatever your decision, I know that you will make it with the best of intentions, so don't beat yourself up too much about it.
