Hi Lorna,
They could just be showing "dominance" behavior, and figuring out who's boss. However, the behavior you describe can also be mating behavior. Another thing that you said was that the larger one is the one who follows the smaller one, purring. Usually boys are a little bit bigger than girls, like my two brother and sister pigs. But this isn't always the case. How did you determine the gender of the pigs? The best way to tell is to apply light pressure just above the genital area (looks like their bellybutton), and if it's a boy his little parts will pop out. :)
