One of my guinea pigs, Lady puuuurs and wheeks when i touch that place on 
her back, she seems to like it =0) She loves been fed while i'm holding her. 
It's normal for piggies to be in hidyholes when they aren't fully tamed. 
Give it time, make sure it gets used to your tender love and care!
