Actually Rachel, piggies and their cages should never smell at all.
What sort of bedding are you using?  

 

I use Carefresh, spot clean the poops and wet places out with a big
spoon every day, and completely change the bedding every 4 or 5 days.
No smell at all.  

 

What cleaning procedure are you doing?  I would guess it needs done much
more frequently.  Bedding can be expensive.  If you have a washer/dryer
handy, some people find towels work well, a clean one every day.
