Hi --
Dawnda will probably be posting on this subject, too. In fact she has
taken in three of these potentially ill-fated piggies. She's sent me their
photos and they are precious.
First, much acclaim and credit goes to Jessica at
Jrosler04 at wmconnect.com who is not currently a member of the gpdd but who hopefully soon will be.
Talk about a person with commitment to our cause. She has taken in over 100
piggies from what I understand to be a farm setting in southeastern Ohio.
(Please note that location people in adjoining states, West Virgina, Kentucky,
Indiana! These piggies may be closer to you than you think.) Also, all Ohio
residents!
From Dawnda I have just learned that these piggies were being bred (if
I understand correctly and I think I do) to be fed to SNAKES. (Yes, snakes
are God's creatures, too, but frankly, that's beside the point. It is not a fate
we want for any guinea pig.)
It was our "Zoo357 at aol.com" who first posted the problem and Jessica's
email address and brought this BIG PROBLEM to the attention of gpdd members
(gpdd, issue #86; 3/16/04). I don't have a first name for you Zoo, but you're
an unsung hero here, too. Zoo found Jessica's posting on another guinea pig
site and forwarded it to our digest.
Many of the female piggies are also pregnant and Jessica has indicated
she is keeping them with her temporaily to avoid the stress of travel or of
their being part of a piggy train, but the little fellows will soon be born and
will also need homes.
If there is anyway that you can help, please contact Jess at the
address posted above. Or contact Dawnda at: dawndastricklen at yahoo.com or me at
Algernon07 at aol.com.

PLEASE consider giving one of these little ones a home -- or helping to find
a true and reliable home for one or more of them.

Alge -- and the "Three Jolly Rodents"
