Hello John

I had a guinea pig named Teah that did the same thing.
We thought maybe a tumor was growing in the jaw joint.
The other possibility was that she had broken her jaw
some way and it was fusing together as it healed. I
never noticed her having any trouble eating before so
I didn't think she had broken her jaw.
My vet and I said it was more humane to put her to
sleep. I was syringe feeding her 5 and 6 times in a 24
hour period. I even set my alarm at night to get up to
feed her. She was hungry and ate critical care and
liquified canaloupe, but she kept on loosing weight. I
didn't want her wasting away and always being hungry.
Not to mention she was probably in pain. He said I
could travel about 4 hours to Ohio University to take
a special x-ray to see if it was a tumor, but he
didn't think she would make it. I just knew that she
wasn't going to make it either. I had him give her
some gas to put her to sleep before he gave her the
shot to put her down. Sorry to give you such a bad
response.
