To whoever wrote in that had the piggie with lice - a few days after we brought out piggie home from the pet store I noticed she was covered with lice. I called the pet store and they gave me some spray that they use on the birds for bird lice. They cautioned me to not actually spray it on her (because it could get in her eyes) but to wet her back stomach down with it real good and then rub it around and in with my hands to get it all over her. They also suggesed that I bed her on just paper towels for a week. Less then 1/2 an hour after I did a treatment and put her in on towels I could see the dead lice lice falling off onto the towels. I did another treatment a week later to get any other eggs that might have hatched and we haven't had a problem since. It didn't seem to hurt her any at all - except that she hated the actual treatment! About a week after the second treatment I gave her a nice bath and her fur was beautiful. The vet also told me (yes I called her to - I was frantic!) that Guinea Pig lice are "species specific" so I didn't have to clean my whole house - or worry about getting them my self - She said any that fell off her alive would soon die with out a piggie host. Hope she wasn't pulling my leg!? That was over a year ago and all is fine now.

Also to the person who just got a Netherland Dwarf rabbit - They are great. I bred and showed Netherland Dwarfs as a kid. (Won't tell you how many miles my parents put on driving to rabbit shows for me!) They are great animals - just take care of them like any other rabbit breed. Becareful putting him in with your piggies though - rabbits can sometimes "kick-up their heels" and play rough which can possably hurt a piggie.

Hope this info helps!

Ann
