Hello 24 hour piggie people!

I have a few questions on cages. Currently Sundae and Tosca are in a Martin's Cage Guinea Pig Deluxe. This is the cage I bought when Sundae came to stay and keep Taffy (late, lamented) company, so, about 5 1/2 years ago. They enjoy the ramp and balcony, but the naughty critters have chewn a lot of the rubber matting off of the side of the ramp and part of the balcony, exposing the wire underneath! I'm seriously considering getting a C&C kit and making a bigger cage.

I have questions about cleaning and set up: (1) Are the cube sides secured to the coroplast base by anything? With the Martin's Cage, there are spring hooks that loop under the pan lip and then hook onto the - well - the "cage" part of the cage.

(2) I'm thinking of getting a table to put the whole business on. The cage I want is 30 X 41 (if I can, I'd like to go with 30 X 50, but don't know if it will be possible). The table top is 31 X 47 and 27 high. Is this practical/desirable? Does it allow for easy cleaning and access to lifting out pigs?

I won't be using a top as there are no concerns with other animals or children.

Thanks, everyone, in advance, for your help.

:-)

Wheeks,

Rayna, Sundae and Tosca
