[Gpdd] MISC: Traveling with piggies

>From time to time, our pigs must travel with us, against their wills, of course. We have experimented with different ways of transporting them, and have decided cat carriers work best for us. What I am concerned about is their lack of interest in anything while we're in the car. Out of five, only one will eat or drink while traveling. It's a nine hour trip to my in-law's so I'm wondering if it's okay for them to go that long without eating or drinking. We've even tried giving them water when we stop for gas, but they don't buy it. They seem to know when we're "home" and they don't eat until then. They just can't relax until we're out of the car for a considerable period of time (like and hour) and we just can't take hour long breaks in the middle of our trips. Are they okay for the afternoon without food and water? Any suggestions?
