[Gpdd] Care: C&C Cages & Use of Towels as Bedding...

Hey Ann!
I'm glad that your son and you enjoyed
Butterscotch's website and that it inspired
ya to build a bigger cage for Pig-Pig. I am
convinced that the bigger the cage is, the
better! And one day when I grow up, Hubby
and I are going to build a house and we're
gonna have a HUGE living room area with a
Big 'ole C&C Cage for our piggies that is
set up for free-range, so they can run
freely and play and get excercise and stuff.
(Daddy Slave doesn't know about my Elaborate
piggie plans, but since we're only in the
'Saving $$$ for a House' mode, then he doesn't
have to know yet.) :-)

Getting back to the topic...

Yes, I use the Coroplast on the bottom.
I have to admit that I didn't actually build
the bottom part myself. I cheated and ordered
it from Sue at Cavycages.com. And I use towels
because the pigs like them and also because it
would cost me a small fortune to use traditional
bedding in their cages. I like using towels,
but I will warn you that it's a lot of work.
Because I do towel laundry everyday. And I hand
pick the hay off of the towels and then shake
the towels downstairs (I live on the top floor
of our apartment building). I change their towels
twice a day (about every 12 hours), otherwise,
they can get pretty yukky (wet 'n moist 'n soiled).

Since Daddy Slave works out of the home,
someone is there to pick up their poops during
the day. Brownie Bear is kind of nasty in that
she will poop and pee where she eats and drinks.
I tell her not to do that, but she just laughs at
me and tells me to mind my own business. Butterscotch
tends to poop more in the 'hidey' places and in his
cuddle cup. Well, at least one of those Pigs is
listening to me! ha ha

Good Luck on building Pig-Pig's new Home!!!

       Love 'n Wheeeeeeeeeeeps,
          Leah...Slave to BB & BS :-)

...My son was also looking over my shoulder and has
decided that we need to build a bigger better cage for
our Pig-Pig. So - off to Walmart we will probably be
going tomorrow! Do you just use Chloroplast and
towels for the bottom? And how long do the towels stay
clean? Do you need to change once a day? Thanks for
any advice:)

Ann
