Well, yesterday I unexpectedly took in two young male
pigs, one suffering from a painful infection of some
sort, from an @#%@! who had bought them from the chain
petstore I work at and demanded that they get their $$
back for them. It was after the 14-day period, so the
stores aren't "allowed" to take back the animals... I
was ripsh*t about this whole situation... I talked to
the woman on the phone when she called our store and
she said "we don't have the money to euthanize him..."
And I'm thinking - PLEASE - euthanasia doesn't even
cost ANYTHING if you dump an animal at the humane
society - these people should NEVER had bought these
animals and it makes me angry that our stupid store
would sell them to these people... Anyway, I told the
woman to bring them to me at the store and I would
take them - I had no idea what would happen to them if
I didn't. About 6-7 hours later, after the woman had
called, the guy (her husband) shows up with the two
pigs in a cardboard carrier, no food, no water. I tell
him that since at least one of them is obviously
sick/injured, I will be taking them to my vet to treat
them - and the idiot asks me "When can I pick them
up?"
^%@$#%#@$!$!^ What???!! No. I told him, "I am not
going to give these animals back to you." He seemed to
get it. I asked him if he had a cage and supplies with
them - he said his wife had already returned them to
the other store!!! Thanks a lot, @#%!#%!!!!
I am treating them for mites and am collecting
information on skin infections to take to my vet. He
may have some sort of bacterial skin infection that
will be hard to treat.
Luckily, my boss gave me some supplies and I had my
two pigs' old cage to use. They are skittish, but very
sweet.
Here are there pictures:

Please note that I did clean up the pellets off of the
floor after those shots were taken! :)

Once we can get these boys back to good health, they
will be up for adoption via Amiable Animals cavy
rescue. I feel ashamed calling this a "rescue" because
it is the company I work for that sold these animals
in the first place. It is what it is, I guess. They
will be "fostered" here in Northeast MA. They will go
home with a brand new Guinea Lynx Cavy Health book.

Wheeeks,
Lauren, Piglet, Pooh Bear, and the two new temporary
boys, who I don't want to name lest I get too attached
to them.
