Is it a sinus infection or a respiratory infection? I
believe the average course of Baytril is two weeks,
but you must call your vet to make sure. Sometimes
guinea pigs can have bad reactions to antibiotics.
Make sure you see that they are eating and pooping ok.
Give them a probiotic - a crushed acidophilus tablet
or Benebac will work. However, if you suspect
something is wrong or the antibiotic hasn't improved
the condition, don't change or stop the dosage but go
to your vet immediately. If the Baytril isn't working
or is causing negative reactions, your vet may
prescribe another antibiotic like Bactrim, which is
safe for young guinea pigs.

I have a question about baytril. Mia and my two boys
have caught a sinus
infection and the dr put them on baytril. They have
been on it since saturday but
the vet never told me how long I should keep them on
it..Basil who is the
smallest at 14 oz's gets .08 cc's twice daily while
Mia and Bailey get 1 cc twice
daily...Is there any ill effects with baytril in baby
pigs? Any advice will
help, THANKS!
