The only rescues I have heard of in your general area
are in Akron, Ohio (Ohio Cavies Rescue); Rochester, IN
(Lovin' Homes); Detroit, MI (Down River Guinea Pig
Haven); Chicago, IL (Critter Corral) and Cincinnati,
OH (This Little Piggie & Me). These rescues are a
little bit of a drive away, but many of them are
filled to the brim with cavies at the moment, so if it
were possible for you to consider traveling an hour or
so, it would be well worth looking into. You should
also contact other shelters, Humane Societies and
SPCA's in your general area, and leave your name and
number in case they come across a surrendered pig.
Some shelters do not take in small animals, but it may
be possible for them in that case to take down your
name and direct the individuals to you. You can also
go to www.petfinder.com.
