I need to respond to several posts...
I had to chuckle when I read about Esmerelda's babies playing hide-and-seek
in sewer fittings (Robert's post). I loved watching my first litter of guinea
pig babies play "follow the leader" with their mommy and daddy around my
playroom. It was like watching a little train! :) Also, my grandpa is a plumbing
contractor and he gave me some big plastic pipes, which the piggies loved running
and hiding in. I have also set up a maze-like playground made out of big
Legos for my gerbil! These makeshift toys are better than anything you can buy at
a pet shop!
Dawnda Stricklen, you mentioned that you switched to newspapers and towels
for bedding instead of shavings. (I use Carefresh and newspapers.) How do you
manage? Do you put the towels underneath the layers of newspaper or the
newspaper under the towels? How often do you change the towels?
Marilyn, congratulations on your two new babies! How did you come up with the
names Chiana and Moya? I'm sorry you couldn't find the wire storage cubes on
eBay. This week there are five copies of CARROT WARS, the spoof of STAR WARS
starring guinea pigs, for sale on eBay.
I cried when I read about the death of Speedy. Jim, you are a wonderful
writer as well as a very caring pet owner. You gave Speedy a better eulogy than one
I have ever heard at any funeral. Even at the end, you were still such a
wonderful friend to Speedy.
My mom got the Ty Beanie Baby Twitch for me just in the nick of time, I
guess. It really is a cute stuffed animal, in spite of the tag which mentions the
wheel. Guess those folks at Ty are better at marketing and designing cute toys
than researching their animal facts.
Love and WHEEEEEEEEEPS,
