Hi
great news on the pet therapy. I was an activities co ordinator in a nursing
home and my GP's used to come in with me on a regular basis. The patients
loved them, we had a lot of patients with severe dementia, who would change in
personality so much when the GP's were in. Some patients would become quite
lucid, and chatty, others who were abusive would hold the guinea pig as if it
was a baby made of china, and talk softly to it. Of course there were some
who thought GP was a dog, and tried to get bones from the kitchen for him. I
had 3 guineas I took in on a regular basis, all of who when I put them in the
basket to get in the car would get so excited to be off to see the old folk.
All I would say is to have some wipes for the patients to wipe their hands with
bfore they pick up GP, and then to do the same afterwards. GP's can pick up
so much more from humans than they can give to us.
I really hope you get s much out of showing off your babies as I did. Its
great to see smiles of anticipation.
Love
Lisa and the scottish piggy clan
