I just wanted to add my two cents regarding hairballs and guinea pigs.  What I understand is guinea pigs cannot get hairballs and if they do, it is very rare.  However, hair can get wrapped around the molars but that isn't too common either.  The reason why guinea pigs rarely get hairballs is because their tongue isn't as rough as a cat's and guinea pigs have hair not fur which is harder to get wrapped up into a ball.  
 
If you are concerned about your pig getting a hairball, you can give pineapple, pineapple juice or papaya.
