I heard a similar almost chirp the other night.  Our two newbies, Copper 
and Snowball were huddled in the far corner of their cages and one was 
chirping like a bird.  It was so loud it woke both my husband and I from a 
dead sleep.  We both thought a bird had gotten into the attic.  Low and 
behold, Copper was chirping away.

Most nights they are really quiet with the occasional purrrrring.
