Hi and welcome to GPDD Nancy!

Congratulations on your first piggie and I am glad to see you are taking the time to research and making sure your new piggie has the appropriate cage and diet.

I suggest since you will be away for 40 hours, you really should get your piggie a friend. He/She can get lonely with no one to talk to. Taking care of two is really not much harder than taking care of one. Lonely guinea pigs can become depressed, eat less, just won't be as playful as if he had a friend.

As for your other question about moving and stressing the pig out, I would imagine it would cause stress. Hopefully someone with more experience or information about this subject will come along and answer you.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Wheeks,
