Hello,
1.) Baking soda at the bottom of the cage should help some with the smell.  

This may help his body function better with his stroke problem:
Give him some cranberry powder or drink (real cranberry, not that cocktail juice but, real unadulterated cranberry) and then about 1 hour later some acidophilus/yogurt with active acidophilus in it.  Maybe that will help him.  Sounds like part of his intestines might also be "stroked out" or paralyzed and he might need a little massage to push down and out the extra material--poop or pee which his tummy can't push.  If he doesn't have that "look" for when it is time for an animal to go to Heavenly Father and he is not in pain then just help him any way you can and pray, the prayers do get answered!  At some point it will be time for him to go to Heaven but, for right now, put some mineral oil up his anal sac and that might help some of the poop to come out.

2.) Hamster with stub for a leg.  If he is not in pain and this is his only deformity than most animals with four legs can get along fine with 3 legs.  Congratulations for your heart expanding to take in this little fellow, he will probably give you much more back than you gave him.  God bless you and "Hammy!"
