I was cleaning the pig cage and put Muffin and Flathead in the "holding
tank" together as I have since I got them. I just finished putting shavings
in the clean cage when I heard a peircing shreeeeeeek! and saw Flatty
hunched over and Muffin on the opposite side of the holding tank. I picked
up Flathead thinking nothing of it at first, as they often have little
bum-nipping tiffs once and a rare while. I looked at the floor of the tank
and noticed on the white towels BLOOD! I looked at Flatty's left front paw
and it was covered in blood. I took her upstairs and cleaned her up as much
as I could and tried to stop the bleeding (looks like the worst is over).
Flatty's claw looks like a left bracket with the open end down normally.
When I wiped the blood off, I saw a huge gash from the side of the claw into
the toe! It looked like Muffin tried to bite her toe off! Flatty's mouth
and paw and a little of her chest fur had blood on it, but Muffin didn't
have blood on her at all. Rather than risk putting them together again, I
fixed up the holding tank to hold Muffin for the night and put Flathead in
the regular cage by herself. Did Muffin try to attack Flatty (I didn't see
it happen)? What should I do? Flatty's toe looks like sh*t and I'm worried
for her. It looked like she was in shock. What do I do?
