  What your vet gave your little hammie was probably Ivermectin, which is pretty much the standard for mite treatment in rodents. I have another suggestion that might help his skin, and that is Peter Gurney's essential oils treatment. I used it on my Jasper who had the most horrible case of mites that he was having seizures from the itching. If you are interested, you can e-mail me privately and I'll give you the directions, or you can go to Peter's website; I think he lists it on there as well. The ingredients are all natural and won't hurt Radar if he ingests them while he's grooming. A word of warning, though--Radar will smell like a hippie from the Patchouli oil in the treatment!
